Things to keep in mind when shopping for new teeth!!!

There are so many different types of procedures out there to help replace missing teeth but which one is the best choice for long term?  If you go through your choices you can either choose between bridges, dentures, or implants.  Unfortunately, bridges and dentures have their downfalls. So that’s why Dr. Thomas Gibbs always recommends implant when it comes to replacing missing teeth.

Why Implants?  A proper implant has no physical downside and has a good longevity, while dentures and removable bridges are usually loose and unstable, dental implants provide you with dental replacements that are both natural looking and very functional.  Dental implants will also help prevent bone loss and shrinkage of your jawbone by imitating the roots of natural teeth.   Implants will improve your appearance, speech, comfort, self-esteem, and most importantly your oral health.  Implants will not give you the headache that bridges and dentures come with.  A bridge requires filing two adjoining teeth, which can make them weaker and prone to decay.  Then you have the dentures that have fit issues, you will have to come in often for adjustments, and the things you loved to eat might not taste the same because dentures can interfere with taste.  So throw away those gooey adhesives and invest in worry free implants.

When you decide to start an implant procedure keep in mind that it is not one visit.  The first visit will consist of extracting the tooth if still there and then placing the implant. After placing the implant you would have to wait another three months for it to heal.  When the implant heals in three months that’s when you can get the abutment and crown placed on.  While doing this procedure if it is a visible missing tooth you will be given a flipper until you get your final crown placed.

The only problem that implants have is??? COST!!!  Implant prices range from $1,000.00-$4,500.00 depending on what type of implant you need.  Patients that have insurance should call their insurance and see if they have any implant coverage.  More and more we find insurances do cover implants, but if you don’t have insurance Dr. Thomas Gibbs office has multiple financing options that are sure to fit any ones budget.  So call Dr. Thomas Gibbs office and schedule an appointment for an implant consultation.  We are more than happy to answer any questions you have.
